Upon request from physician, any number of disks per organism may be added to the non-routine susceptibility testing using disk diffusion method (Kirby-Bauer), subjected to availability of Clinical Laboratories Standards Institute (CLSI) interpretative breakpoints.
For susceptibility testing of antibiotics that are not included in the routine panel, usually in the context of multi-drug resistance (MDR) or drug allergy. Consultation with ID (infectious diseases) physician or ID pharmacists is recommended.
