Depending clinical presentation, Respiratory PCR panel (test code: RSPFA) and/or Pneumonia PCR panel (test code: PNPFA) can be considered.
Sample Requirement:
Collect approximately 2mL of sputum/lower respiratory tract sample in sterile leak-proof container (Early morning sputum specimens are the best). Respiratory samples with >= 10 squamous epithelial cells per low power field represent oropharyngeal contamination. These samples are not suitable for cultures as they do not yield any useful result
