Specimen received after 48 hours of collection will nonetheless be processed but results may be compromised. For overseas specimens, avoid shipping on Friday or eve of public holidays.
Sample Requirement:
Submit one of the following:Fresh specimen required(a) Specimen Type: Bone marrow Container/Tube: Lavender Top (EDTA), Green Top (Sodium Heparin) Volume: 2mL(b) Specimen Type: Peripheral blood Container/Tube: Lavender Top (EDTA), Green Top (Sodium Heparin) Volume: 3mL Collection Instructions: Collect 5-6mL blood if WBC < 5 x 109/L.(c) Specimen Type: Lymph Node / Solid Tumour Container/Tube: Sterile container with 5mL RPMI 1640 media Volume: 5mm(3) or larger biopsy Collection Instructions: Place tissue directly into 5mL RPMI 1640 media after biopsy. Do not leave tissueto air-dry or fix tissue in formalin. (Prearrange with Flow Cytometry Laboratory for transport media prior sample collection) (d) Specimen Type: Body fluid Container/Tube: Sterile tube with 0.6mL transfix media Volume: 3-6mL (Prearrange with Flow Cytometry Laboratory for transport media prior sample collection)(e) Specimen Type: "Small cell number" samples, e.g. CSF, vitreous biopsies Container/Tube: Sterile tube with 0.2mL transfix media Volume: 1-2mL (Prearrange with Flow Cytometry Laboratory for transport media prior sample collection)(f) Specimen Type: Fine needle aspirate Container/Tube: Sterile container with 5mL RPMI 1640 media Collection Instructions: Place fine needle aspirate directly into 5mL RPMI 1640 media after collection. Do not place in formalin or in a sterile container without any tissue culture medium. (Prearrange with Flow Cytometry Laboratory for transport media prior sample collection)
