Our Specimen Collection & Handling Guide

General Sample Storage

All samples collected or obtained, except for a few that require other specific instructions as indicated in the sample types, are left at room temperature in the clinics while awaiting pick-up by the despatchers of Parkway Laboratory Services. For specimen pick-up services, please call our Client Support hotline at 6278 9188.

Do not keep the samples overnight in the clinics as these samples may cause the reporting of erroneous and misleading analytical results for some tests. Examples are falsely elevated potassium level, falsely low glucose result, etc.

Please note that blood specimens for the following tests are not to be kept overnight:

  • Full Blood Count
  • Calcium
  • Cytomegalovirus DNA Quantitation
  • Electrolytes
  • Phosphate
